Residential properties in Singapore are classified under Private and Public Housing. More than 80% of Singaporeans stay in public housing, or HDB flats. Private property consists mainly of condominiums and private apartments. Due to scarcity of land, only a minority of Singaporeans stay in landed properties.

Geographical classification
Private residential properties in Singapore are classified under districts. Click here for Singapore Map and District Guide. Prime districts will be 9, 10 and 11 (Old). Due to its proximity to the CBD, Orchard Road shopping and entertainment belt, these districts are popular for the upper middle class and expatriates. Exclusive condominiums and high rise private apartments can commonly be found in district 9.
District 10 and 11 consists of many high class bungalows, found at the Holland and Bukit Timah vicinities.
Some other popular districts for private residential properties include district 15 and 16, at the Tanjung Rhu area. These are the coastline region where one can enjoy excellent sea view and bay view.

Geographical classification
HDB housing is generally classified under towns: Queenstown, Yishun, Woodlands, Tampines etc. Estates nearer to the City area (such as Toa Payoh, Tiong Bahru) generally fetch higher resale value.
